Rage Against Machine

Almost forgot this, 9th of February the Rage Against Machine came to play here in Tokyo. Me and my roomy had to go to check it out! Have to do quickly these last posts before I'll be locked in the hospital. Hehe, right now I'm offficially a patient there but got written permission to show at the door that I can leave for 2 days (reminds Finnish army "weekend holidays"). Haven't even started to pack yet my stuff there. Have to bring everything my own starting from my clothes and chopsticks...luckily I don't need to cook my own food there. :)

The consert was held in Makuhari messe. Really big place but not the best place for concerts...

Dear roomy enjoying.

me too.

:P

Glowing start...

Operation

Just got out from my doctors office. He gave me an introduction of the operation. I saw from MRI-picture how my ACL is totally missing from left knee. The reconstruction is done using autogenous hamstring tendon taken from same same leg. He'll drill holes to the bones and attach the ends of tendon using titanium pieces. Another of them has to be moved later (〜1.5 years). Other stays inside me as a memory.

On Sunday I should return here around 3pm. No more eating after 9pm. On Monday the operation and next day rehabilitation starts. Have to use a wheelchair until the pain lets me to raise up. The doctor's oppinion was still 3 weeks hospitalization starting from the operation day.

And what comes to possible complications, the only one, according to my surgeon, is the risk of infection. So the surgery itself sounds like a piece of cake for him.

Now have to wait to meet the anesthesian doctor. Hehe, in Finland I met the anesthesian first and last time when laying on the operation table. After few friendly words exchanged Iwas out of this world. Next thing I remember was a huge hunger while distantly hearing nurses ordering pizza in the wake up room. Still don't know was it for real or were they just having fun with me...

Btw, tomorrow I'll be running for the last time for a while. Better enjoy it good!

Hospital visit

Here I'm sitting on my bed, looking out from our 10th floor window. At least one nurse in our floor speaks english a little. :) She explained me today's program. Have to meet my doctor at 13:00. He'll explain the details of the operation. After that some x-rays (again, taken twice only in this hospital so far...wonder what is the safety limit for maximum amount of X-ray radiation). And after meeting an anesthesian doctor I'll be free to go. The nurse told me to expect a long day... Soon they'll bring me the lunch. (^_^)b

Luckily I bought many books! (and better print bigger pile of articles instead of electric form). The head nurse of the floor came to tell me that laptops are forbidden in the room. :/

Lunch time!!! Looks delicious. :)

Rockabilly & Hello Kitty

Here some pictures I found from my computer after the last travellers (sorry Janne, Noora and Satu I published these without asking...but as they are saved into my laptop...)

My familymembers came to visit me here in Tokyo on Saturday evening two weeks ago. Next morning we went to Yoyogi park to see some japanese rockabillies.

From left: Noora (Janne's girlfriend), Janne (younger brother of mine), me and Satu (younger middle sister).

Rockabillies at the gate of Yoyogi park.

And a sample from their way of having fun on Sundays...not bad way to spent it!

The day care of dogs?!

During the week days, when I was working my ass of in the lab, my dear visitors were exploring wonders of Tokyo all by themselves. One of the most interesting place what they found (which I didn't even know that excisted) was Hello Kitty land. This country is full of Hello Kitty stuff and all girls are crazy on them...as seems to be the case with these two Finnish ones at the below... ;D

Dream come true?

Hehe, Janne most probably bought this when girls turned their backs... (oops, sorry if I ruined the birthday/christmass/valentine's day present)

IIiiiiii, kawaiiiiiii! (I can here it, high screeming, inside my head when seeing this picture)

Had enough?

Ok, that's it folks. Next I'll send some cherry blossom pictures but before that have to take shower, sleep a bit and work hard at the lab. Btw, last week is on before my hospitalization. No time to get nervous about the comming operation...yet. On Friday I'll visit the doctor once more to discuss all the details of the operation. After that I'll share them with you also.

Guests on their way home

Time is passing way too fast nowadays!! No time to even download beautiful sakura pictures from my camera to computer. But now quick update without pics. Got just home from the lab.

One week more and my doctor is going to open my knee and hopefully fix it. Mon 14th of April.

The visitors from Finland left early this morning (actually they left already last night to spent a night in the airport).

Tomorrow probably the last cherry blossom party (flowers start to fall down...it's like snowing but warmer;).

On Sunday we have the long waited festival (which we missed last year because it was sold out), The Punk Spring! The main band this year is Rancid!!! Hehee, one of the all time favourites from my teenage years...

And last but not least, I'm going to stay here until end of this year. Gotta continue research a bit longer than original plan. (^_^)b

Cooper no.1

I run cooper test today during the 2 hour morning jog. Last time I have done it 7 years ago. Didn't reach my goal with this first try. Missed 120m from 3000m. Next time then... (^_^)b
